USAGE + INFOS [@@ database load/init @@] Step-By-Step This page generates lists of your choice from a database of Spanish noble titles, actual titleholders and corresponding dates/durations of events and legal situations. Just create the list you would like to find, that fits your search depending on the question you had. To see “something now” press the "select"-button and you get a simple but complete list of all available data. Press the "view"- button “1ª página (descripción)” to recall this usage-text. Some hints to continue: - Which list (subset and order of data) would be (or contain) the answer to your question? - Which selectors or exact tokens of dates, names, denominations etc. match the data, are common to a subset? - Make yourself familiar with the data formats and notations for dates, durations, instruments, situations etc. - Read some FAQs (below) to get an idea of what is possible and how to do it. Test and modify the examples. - Adjust the filters/options/tokens to the information (= list) you want to achieve (= generate). - Press the "select", "search" or "s+select" button. Study the results for better tokens/patterns. - Refine and retry or "reset". Your actions and settings are mirrored in the URL-field for copy+post. - Renewing a list triggers a scroll-into-view, if a title’s ID is present in URL#ID and displayed list. - Created a big list? <Ctrl-F> your browser’s search-function to find text inside a listing. By the way, this page is capable of working offline and (saved) from local drives and caches. Buttons-Fields-Options ♦ 1st row : combine predefined filters and sort orders Selection #1 All titles/dignities or a (fe/male) class of a title. Selection #2 All titles/dignities and titleholders or a (major/minor/fe/male/…) subset. Some general options appear in both lists to enable combinations with special options solely in one list. Button "select" Start compilation of the list. Display-style is according to the "simple"-checkbox below ! Button "#" Attach a function to the listed titles’ "[##]" to compile a sub-list of all related titles. This function has to be (re-)activated for each new generated main-list. Clicks on "[##]" of each entry then open a sub-list of all titles accessed by a holder. Selection #3 Sort-order of the resulting list. Sub-lists depend in each case on the current/newest selection and can be of different orders: e.g. main-list alphabetical and sub-lists chronological. The highlight marks the leading data (being criterion for the current sort-order). ♦ 2nd row : refine filters with (parts of) dates, names, tokens etc. Search-input (max. 60 characters) Selectors (text, tokens, …) searched inside the righthand datebase field (not page nor site). The search only provides exact matching of coherent occurrence within one field through all records, i.e. sensitive for lettercase, accented characters, whitespace, but not for leading and trailing parts. You can copy+paste an exact search-term, e.g. part of a name, from the result-area. Selection #4 The ranges (database-fields of a record) to search within. Note the difference between e.g. · Denominación de título : search for/within title’s denomination · Nombre de titular (compl.) : search for/within holder’s full name (fore- and surnames) · Otorgante/Origen de título : search for/within title’s grantor (monarch, reign, origin) Fit the search-terms to (a part of) the content-formats to obtain qualified and reasonable results ! Most dates concerning titles are prefixed by two tokens for a (legal) situation and instrument, following a general pattern like "situation.instrument.YYYY-MM-DD" (see list of abbeviations). Instruments are legal deeds or denote as pseudo-instruments "T…" at least a “Title of …”-origin. The dots and dashes, tildes and letters can help to match certain parts not selectable by options. · Fecha de nacimiento | Date of birth: ####-##-## (año-mes-día) · Fecha de sucesión/creación | Date of succession/creation: NN.####-##-## (instrumento.año-mes-día) · Edad/Antigüedad/Duración | Age/Seniority/Duration: ~##a##m##d (~..años..meses..días) · Número | Number: ## (leading zero to two digits minimum) Search-ranges are strictly separated and limited to one field: the search cannot cross their boundaries. Missing range-options may be substituted (by combination through "s+select") with the filters above. Vice versa, a search within the [[ xhtml:class ]] attribute is a “manual” equivalent to the filters. The option [[ atributos internos ]] of Selection #5 lists internal attribute contents = searchable tokens. Button "search" Start search, only within the selected range (= type of data-field). Ignore other filters. Button "s+select" Start search within range, combined with the filters selected in the 1st row. Button "reset" Restore defaults and remove results. Checkbox "RE" Search-input text is a “Regular Expression” (some characters get a special meaning). Conformance with ECMAScript’s RE-syntax as strings may be required (some backslashes doubled). Checkbox "simple" Simple or not. Results listed simple and faster vs styled and slower. All titles etc., unfiltered in a styled mode, may be slow, depending on your computer. Be patient! The bottleneck is displaying, not searching and compiling the list. ♦ 3rd row Selection #5 · 1ª página (descripción) : recall and (default) display this text. · ayuda para la búsqueda : hints about patterns and search-strings. · abreviaturas e instrumentos : abbreviations/tokens for legal instruments and situations. · censo y estadística : database census and statistics. Options enclosed in double-brackets [[…]] are internal, experimental or technical variants. · atributos internos : internal class/id/ref/link attributes of titles. · «plano» : a “plain” view, related titles sub-listed and cross-linked. · «todos» : display “all” titles, always unfiltered, just sorted. Special actions for titles’ identifiers as part of URLs · ir a url#id (si está presente) : scroll title of url#id into view, if present. · sólo url#id (si está presente) : solely list title of url#id, if present (make new list). · url#id → xml:id (si presente) : put url#id (if present) into xml:id search-form. Button "view" View selected item/option. Button "URL" Output URL?selection=... w/o any action, just to get an only preselecting link. URL-output “Last Action URI”. Click into this textarea/addressline marks the whole link for copy+paste. Executing "select", "search" or "s+select" logs action and selection as reusable link URL?action=... i.e. generic base-URI + query-string of the current non-default selection + optional action Mailing, posting & using this link will preselect the page-settings (and optionally take action), so that a certain list-type you want to communicate and refer to, will or can be restored. * Some forums extend and redirect posted/quoted links to track clicks – and malform the query part. * If each (re-) quote messes up more, try to use the maybe less manipulated link of the original posting. * Just in case, add this hint to your posting for other forum-users. Button ">" Append query-string to URL in client’s addressline (reloads the page), e.g. for bookmarking or local usage, or get rid of current location URL’s query-string, if none is given. Button "ID" Jump to title’s ID (if present in URL#ID and current list) without generating a new list. A title scrolls back into view automatically after renewing the list, if a title’s “Identifier” (#ID) in the addressline corresponds to a title’s ID in the generated list. If posting such URLs: CUAP Selection-Form (even if hidden with "X") A double-click anywhere inside this info- and result-area displays the selection-form in an overlay style. A single-click anywhere in the darkened background-area makes it disappear again.
